Spa Policies
Arrival to Your Appointment
Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows time to complete any necessary intake forms, change, and prepare for your session. All services run on a set schedule, and arriving early ensures a calm and relaxed start to your treatment.
Cancellation Policy
We kindly require at least 24 hours’ notice for all appointment cancellations or rescheduling.
Same-day cancellations will incur a 50% charge of the service cost. No-shows will be charged 100% of the service cost.
This policy is in place out of respect for other clients and to ensure availability for those seeking appointments. Repeated no-shows may result in a requirement to pre-pay for future bookings.
No Show Policy
We understand that unanticipated events occur in everyone’s life. If you cannot attend your appointment, please call to let us know. Clients who fail to show for their appointment without notice will be charged the full amount for the scheduled service. You may also be asked to pre-pay for future services.
Late Arrival Policy
Late arrivals may not receive an extension of their scheduled service time. However, if we are notified in advance and our schedule allows, we may offer a partial or full appointment at our discretion. Regardless, the full service fee still applies to all late arrivals.
Informed Consent
Prior to each appointment, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. Prior to your first visit with us, you will receive a copy of our policies and will be asked to sign a consent stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures. Clients that have not been seen for at least a year will also be asked to fill out this form again.
Scope of Practice
We are licensed professionals and held to the highest standards by Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP). We do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions. We may refer you to a medical doctor for diagnosis. Our services are not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions.
Respect for Client Needs and Boundaries
Our massage therapists are happy to adjust pressure, temperature, music volume, or focus on specific areas at your request. You may leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage methods, or stop the session at any time. Proper draping is always maintained—only the area being worked on will be undraped. Sexual interaction or discussion is strictly prohibited. The session will be terminated immediately, and full payment will be required.
Confidentiality and Conversation
We treat all client visits and conditions as confidential. We will not discuss your visit with anyone outside of our staff without your express permission. You may choose to talk or not talk during the service—conversation will always be guided by your preference.
Existing and New Medical Conditions
It is the responsibility of the client to keep Butter Massage & Spa informed of any current medical treatments and to provide written permission from your healthcare provider if necessary. Clients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation must provide a doctor’s note confirming that they are aware of and approve the desired treatment.
Sanitization
We take sanitization of our treatment spaces seriously. Hospital-grade disinfectants are used on all surfaces including massage tables, face cradles, bolsters, and more. All linens are changed between guests and washed at high temperatures with disinfecting detergents. Our staff thoroughly washes hands before and after every client session.
